About us

At Granode Materials, we understand that the key to success is not just knowledge and experience, but also a strong team spirit, passion, and a drive to make things happen!

A passionate team

Granode Materials was founded in 2021 when 2D fab – a large-scale manufacturer of the nano material graphene – transferred operations.

We have a high academic level among our staff, and all our team members have extensive experience working with nano materials. We have created the best possible conditions for Granode Materials to succeed. We are building a team of highly motivated and highly educated individuals from various cultures and backgrounds from across the world, in order to avoid monolithic thinking and to bring a diverse range of perspectives and ideas to the table.

Our team is composed of individuals who possess double education, with 4 out of 5 staff members holding a second degree and 3 out of 5 holding a Ph.D. in relevant fields.

Founded in 2021, our team has extensive experience working with high-end battery and energy storage research, as well as nano materials.

Our team, including executive board member Professor Daniel Brandell at the Ångström Advanced Battery Centre at Uppsala University, and our chairman and co-investor Lars Thunell, former CEO of the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group), brings not only a wealth of knowledge and experience in battery technology, but also extensive global business development experience.

We are based in Sundsvall in northern Sweden and we are committed to making a positive impact in the industry with our cutting-edge technology and relentless pursuit of innovation. At Granode Materials, we believe that a strong team, energized by passion and a shared vision, is what sets us apart and makes us a leader in
the industry.

Our methods positions us as an industry leader

At Granode Materials, we have a unique and unparalleled expertise in the field of silicon nanostructure synthesis. Our patented and patent-pending methods, including our innovative RF plasma deposition method, sets us apart from the competition and positions us as industry leaders. Our technology, specifically our silicon-graphene anode material, allows us to use significantly less anode material for the corresponding storage capacity, compared to traditional batteries.

Our post-processing techniques have been specifically designed to meet the rigorous demands of the lithium-ion battery market and to minimize the need for additional treatment from the industry. We have a deep understanding of the science behind silicon nanostructures and how they can be applied in anode composite, with a special focus on addressing the challenges associated with dispersion and excessive interactions during their application as anodes.

We are confident that our technology has the potential to revolutionize the lithium-ion battery industry by providing a highly efficient and cost-effective solution for next-generation battery anodes. Our cutting-edge technology and expertise in silicon nanoparticle composites allow us to improve anode performance and address the challenges associated with using solely silicon nanoparticles in anode materials.

We also have a thorough understanding of the plasma technology and how it can be modified to produce the base material for our anode, silicon nanoparticles deposited on graphite/graphene, at lab scale. We are confident that plasma deposition is the most viable method for producing our base material in commercial quantities. Our post-treatment methods have been rigorously tested and optimized to meet the exacting demands of the lithium-ion battery market. Our proprietary techniques are designed to minimize the need for additional treatment from the industry, thus streamlining the production process and reducing costs.

Our technical expertise in silicon nanoparticle composites is unparalleled in the industry. We have a strong portfolio of patented and patent-pending methods for synthesizing silicon nanostructures, and our RF plasma deposition method is particularly promising. We have a deep understanding of the properties of silicon nanostructures and how they interact with other materials, which allows us to tailor our post-processing techniques to achieve optimal results.

One of the key challenges faced by other companies in the industry is the dispersion and excessive interactions of silicon nanoparticles during their application as anodes. However, we have developed post-processing methods that address these challenges head-on, ensuring that our anode materials are stable, consistent and highly effective. We are confident that our unique and superior technology will allow us to succeed where others have failed and we are excited to share our breakthrough technology with the world.
